Installation, and Maintenance
Since 1983, Albany Electric has grown from a 23 employee electrical service company to a 192 employee company, whose services range from repairing a lighting system to providing U.P.S. power distribution design, installation, and maintenance. Ronnie Hinson, along with Bill Thompson, Jerry Williams, and Jerome Harrison carved a unique niche for Albany Electric.
“We built our company on very ethical and professional principles,” Hinson continued. “We will do anything from a small residential service call to a multimillion-dollar project.” Albany Electric has done some of the largest jobs in Albany, as well as some of the most important, including restoration work at Albany State University following the disastrous Flood of 1994, work on the Municipal Auditorium, and the electrical work for the surgery expansion at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The company works on a variety of projects including computer and telecommunications wiring and cabling. “Wiring a building for data has almost reached the level of wiring a building for power and lights,” said Hinson.
While the company is only in the first generation of ownership, Albany Electric has created a legacy of giving to charitable organizations in Dougherty County. At the same time Hinson formed the company in 1983, he also established a charitable foundation.
“We created the foundation so if we made some money, we could support the community,” Hinson stated. “It’s just a way to give back something to the community.” The foundation supports local schools and youth sports, but in addition to that monetary help, Albany Electric works with the school system to prepare students for jobs in electrical contracting.
“Our community is very important to us. Our company is built by the people who are from the area and care about Southwest Georgia, so we are truly a local company,” added Arnold Geeslin. "Most people find that once they’ve called on us to help, they will continue to use our services as needed and recommend us to their friends. That is what Albany Electric’s mission and vision is all about.”
